To clear the latest high-end content, players must consider what the Best in Slot gear is for their job. However, FF14's statistics are not beginner-friendly and many turn to third-party sources for advice on which gear to grind and wear.

Best In Slot Gear For Paladin
Level 100 Paladins will be very happy with the Pentamelded Archeo Kingdom Gear Set released in 7.05, as well as the Savage Raid Gear. This is because much of the Light-Heavy gear and Artifact Armor didn't suit them at all. Both the progression gearset and the BiS gearset will focus on melding Direct Hit and Critical Hit, as GCD breakpoints and Determination tiers can be reached off of the Gear Stats alone.

It may not always be possible to decide which items to transition into the endgame BiS gearset first, as RNG plays a factor in Savage gear drops. However, the Weapon and Shield are the most important to switch out as this is the largest damage increase.
Best In Slot Gear For Warrior
Warriors typically want to have as much Determination and Crit as possible, followed by a large health pool to support their life-stealing habits. Unlike many of the other tanks on the list, this means they can easily get by without forking over the money for a pentamelded set. Because this progression set is unlikely to last very long, it focuses on items players can grind and craft with a smaller gil investment, using gear from the Arcadion Raids liberally.

Best In Slot Gear For Gunbreaker
Gunbreaker has a heavy preference for Critical Hit, even more than other Tanks. This is because several of the Gunbreaker's abilities are a guaranteed Crit, and Critical Hit not only scales the rate of Critical Hits but also the damage multiplier. As a result, both the progression and BiS gearsets below are stuffed with as much Critical Hit as possible with minimal waste.

Dark Knight needs their mitigation to come off cooldown more frequently due to having fewer of them. As a result, it is suggested to run Dark Knight gearsets with a GCD of 2.46 rather than the 2.5 favored by many other tanks. Other than reaching this breakpoint, the gearset should prioritize Critical Hit and avoid Tenacity.
